SUMMER SAKE SPECTACULAR!
It’s time to kick off summer with a “Summer Sake Spectacular” tasting at the shop. Okay, maybe we’re exaggerating a little with the “Spectacular” part, but there will definitely be sake and it certainly is summer. Unfortunately there will be no beautiful Japanese girls dancing at the shop, but we thought the picture above might help you feel more “summery” as you read our announcement.
Join us this Saturday (06/11) as we sample 5 different sake including a limited release premium Daiginjo from Kurosawa brewery in Nagano. (See information in the right column)
Here’s the lineup for this Saturday.
KUROSAWA DAIGINJO
Premium Reserve
Ultimately smooth and delicate with trace hints of pear, butter and floral overtones. Miyama Nishiki rice is polished to 49% of it’s original size and artisan brewed using traditional Japanese methods to produce this delicious Daginjo. Nagano prefecture.
YAEGAKI MU
Junmai Daiginjo
“Nothingness”
Winner of 8 consecutive gold medals at the Monde Selection. Fruity, dry and very well balanced, this reasonably priced Daginjo drinks very light and mild. Hyogo prefecture.
SHOIN
Junmai Ginjo
Dry and fragrant, this sake from Yamaguchi prefecture has a floral bouquet of lilac and violets and the tartness of granny smith apples. Rich flavor with a dry finish.
RIHAKU
Junmai Ginjo
“Wandering Poet”
Mellow and well rounded, this well known sake is full of umami but finishes clean. Brewed using Yamada Nishiki rice polished to 55% and traditional Japanese methods. Shimane prefecture.
SHICHIKEN
Junmai Ginjo
The ginjo flavor of this sake is produced with images of early autumn in mind. Initially light with a pleasantly mild bitterness, it has a smooth aftertaste that will have you wanting more. Yamanashi prefecture.
So join us this Saturday as we kick off the summer at the shop. The tasting is complimentary as always, and we’ll be pouring sake all day … or until we run out.
