Been missing some sake tastings? We got some great news for you then! This Friday, June 12th, we plan to taste through 3 amazing sake from Yamagata Prefecture with 2 very special guest.

He’s lived and trained at the sake brewery for years, took and passed one of the hardest sake exams there is all in Japanese, please give a warm welcome to Sake Master Stuart Morris! And the revered Toji (Brew Master) that took on the Boston foreigner was none other than 10th-generation owner Masanobu Shindo.
You can learn more about the story that brought these two sake fanatics together at the tasting! And, we’ve even added just a little summary of Stuart Morris at the end, along with our sake tasting lineup~
We’re so happy and honored to welcome Shindo-san for the first time and welcome back Stuart for an in person tasting. Believe it or not, the Hachidori, or Hummingbird, was first introduce to Hawaii just last year! And now, you’ll get to taste each premium grade of sake from Junmai to Daiginjo in that classic Yamagata style of bright, fruity, and smooth!

Also, A Sake Master?
“Stuart Morris is a rare quantity in the world of Japanese Sakes. This unassuming, hard-working Bostonian achieved his Master of Sake and today makes premium Sakes at one of Japan’s foremost Sake breweries—one of the few non-Japanese natives to do so. His journey is one of passion and belief in overcoming the impossible… For 25 years, Stuart has made Japanese Sake his life’s pursuit—insatiably learning its culture, tradition, and styles. Stuart’s path to Sake began behind the bar of a sushi restaurant in the U.S. Virgin Islands.”
From a sushi bar?? I’ll be honest it took me by surprise too! But, if you’re interested in how Stuart got to where he is, meeting Shindo-san, and the Shindo Brewery, you just have to stop by on Friday to hear for yourself~
Or, if you want to try and learn what type of ono sake Shindo-san & Stuart have been brewing with the Kurabito (brewery workers), even more so should stop on by =)
This a really unique and a fun chance to meet the brewers while they’re on island! We hope we get to see you all there this Friday, Mahalo & Kanpai!
