Summer Nama Sake Tasting

Summer Nama Sake Tasting

SUMMER “NAMA” SAKE TASTING

Can’t remember the last time we did this but we’re having back to back weekend sake tastings at the shop.  This past Saturday we had Yoshi pouring eight incredible sake including two that were introduced to Hawaii for the first time.  This Saturday (07/23) we’re doing our SUMMER “NAMA” SAKE TASTING showcasing three special unpasteurized sake that are only released during the summer.

Many of you will remember Ohyama’s summer namazake.  We brought it in last summer and it was a big hit with everyone.  So this summer we’re bringing it back (Ohyama) along with two other summer namazake from Tsukinokatsura and Umenishiki.

And then by popular demand we were also able to get our hands on a few more cases of Otokoyama Yukishibare spring namazake.  Although spring has actually passed, this sake was so well received when we originally poured it a few months ago that we’re bringing it back for sampling and sale once again.

So get into the spirit of summer with some refreshing namazake.  Unpasteurized and refreshingly cold, it’s the best way to beat the heat and only available this time of year.

Here’s the lineup for Saturday.

OHYAMA NAMAZAKE TOKUBETSU JUNMAI
One of our favorites at the shop.  Refreshing, fruity aromas of peach, apple and orange.  Medium dry sake with pleasant acidity.  Nicely balanced, mild taste with clean finish.

UMENISHIKI NAMAZAKE JUNMAI DAIGINJO
This rare super premium Junmai Daiginjo nama from Ehime prefecture begins with gorgeous aromas of ripe fruits and young grass.  Taste just like aromas and finishes with a short aftertaste.

TSUKINOKATSURA KOHAKUKO NAMAZAKE JUNMAI GINJO
A great Junmai Ginjo nama, this time from Kyoto prefecture.  Tranquil aromas of grain, trees and nuts.  Very complex sake with expansive, crisp acidity and fruity finish.

OTOKOYAMA YUKISHIBARE TOKUBETSU JUNMAI
When we first introduced this spring namazake a few months ago we sold out immediately.  We brought in a few more cases and sold out once again.  Well, the importer still had some Yukishibare in stock and asked us if we would like to sample it again.  So we’re bringing it back one final time to taste with our summer namazake.  Refreshingly dry and “misty”, this nama has aromas and flavor of pear, apples and grapes.

So please stop by the shop this Saturday for our SUMMER “NAMA” SAKE TASTING. Sample some rare Junmai Daiginjo namazake and get into the spirit of summer!  We’ll be sampling all day or until we run out of sake.  Hope to see you there.
