OKUNOMATSU SAKE TASTING

We’re holding a special Okunomatsu Sake Tasting this Saturday at the shop.  Joining us to pour his delicious sake is Mr. Takeshi Tsushima, General Manager of Okunomatsu.  We’ll be sampling four different sake from Okunomatsu including a single pastuerized “Namachozo” and a special Sakura Daiginjo.

And just for good measure we’ll also be sampling a fifth sake from Kurosawa brewery.  Kurosawa Junmai Kimoto is brewed using an “old school” traditional method that produces an earthy full bodied flavor.

So join us this Saturday (06/25) for a special Okunomatsu Sake Tasting.  Come meet Mr. Tsushima and continue to support the Tohoku region by sampling some Okunomatsu sake from Fukushima prefecture.

Here’s the lineup for this Saturday.

OKUNOMATSU TOKUBETSU JUNMAI
720 ml
Fruity with a light koji flavor, this tokubetsu junmai from Fukushima is medium bodied with a clean crisp flavor.

OKUNOMATSU GINJO
720 ml
Previous gold medal winner, this medium bodied Ginjo sake has aromas of lychee and pear.  It drinks smooth with a well balanced mild frutiness.

OKUNOMATSU SAKURA DAIGINJO
720 ml
Relatively new to Hawaii, this light and elegant sake has flavors of peach and other fruit with a mild finish.  Beautiful bottle with images of Sakura or Cherry Blossoms.

OKUNOMATSU TOKUBETSU JUNMAi NAMACHOZO300 ml
While most sake is pastuerized twice, “Namachozo” sake are only pastuerized once.  Single pastuerization gives this sake a mild “nama” flavor with aromas of rice and fruit.

KUROSAWA JUNMAI KIMOTO
720 ml
Brewed in the “old school” kimoto method, this sake from Nagano has a deep, rich, and well balanced earthy flavor.  Great chilled or warm.

Hope to see you this Saturday!
