Taiheizan Tenko

Taiheizan Tenko

Please join us at The Sake Shop this Saturday for a SPECIAL complimentary sake tasting!  All the way from Akita prefecture in Japan, the President of Kodama Brewery will be here at the shop pouring his Taiheizan Tenko Junmai Daiginjo.  Along with Ms. Mariko Yamazaki of JAPAN PRESTIGE SAKE ASSOCIATION, Mr. Kodama and Ms. Yamazaki will be on hand to answer questions and give out information about this delicious sake.

“Taihei-zan” means “Grand Mountain” and refers to the tallest mountain in Akita prefecture while “Tenko” translates as “Heavenly Grace”.  This sake is produced using the “Kimoto” method of sake brewing and has aromas of cantaloupe, watermelon, apple and grapes with a fruity taste all the way through.  It’s a well-balanced sake with full and gorgeous flavors.  Please come by the shop this Saturday for a taste of Taiheizan!

Kodama Brewing is located in Akita prefecture and was founded in 1879.  The brewery uses the “Akita Kimoto” method, the oldest and the original method of sake brewing where lactic acid bacteria is utilized to protect the yeast for fermentation.  This is a very labor intensive and time consuming process, but Taiheizan sticks to the old-style of sake brewing and strives to maintain the traditional taste of sake, which has been carried on through generations.  Taiheizan has consistently won numerous gold medals in the Monde Selection, the Japan Annual National Sake Competition and in the U.S. National Sake Appraisal.
